Due to the pace of life here in Boston I rarely remember to just be in the moment. Every now and then I get a little spark to remind me, a bumper sticker, some hippie in Kendall Sq, a squirrel, but then its gone and I'm back in the rat race doing mach 5 through life. I created this site to help me remember to slow down and remember the world I live in. I hope you find the reminders useful too. How to use the Daily Buddha
Its easy, all you do is submit your email or SMS address on the zen reminder page. You will then recieve a message from the daily buddha a few times a week (not daily, don't get hung up on names). It may be a well known quote or some other bit of wisdom, what it says doesn't matter as much as what you do with it. When you recieve your reminder stop what you are doing, get comfortable, close your eyes... Think about the bit of wisdom you have just recieved, what you think it means, or think about your cats, whatever. The important thing is relax for 5 minutes, center your self, and let your stress melt away. That's really it. I could babble on for pages about how to get the most out of it and how wonderful the daily buddha is, but instead I'll leave it up to you to decide if its the right tool for you.
Another way to use the Daily Buddha is to bookmark this page. Everytime you visit this page you will be presented with a new quote. Its not about seeing all the quotes, they are just a good tool to help you relax.
How to contribute to the Daily Buddha
In the sprite of trust and openness the Daily Buddha is completely open and is meant to be as simple as possible. There are no user accounts, anyone can submit quotes. Karma is assigned to each quote and someday a way to modify that karma will be exposed to users. There are no user accounts because you don't really need one, and who needs another account anyway? Zen Reminders are controlled via email/SMS. When you sign up you will confirm you want reminders sent to you, likewise you can cancel reminders via email/SMS.
